About Us
Managed Computer Solutions is a locally owned business that has been servicing the Whitsunday area for over 18 years. We are currently looking for a full-time IT Support Technician that includes networking & systems administration duties to work as part of our busy managed services team, Data Centre Team & our NOC.
Secure long-term employment, the business has grown rapidly in the last 6 years and always allows upwards career movement.
The company has two business arms & multiple locations; Our local retail + workshop & onsite IT support services & then our managed IT solutions component that services a diverse range of business’s right across Australia providing a VIP level of customer care & support.
Based on skills, personality & commitment this role would turn into a more senior role in short course.
We cover a large range of clientele, this means that there is never two days the same. Each and every day is different challenges and you will never get sick of the same technology as its rapidly evolving.
Tasks and Responsibilities
This is a highly varied role, with the responsibility of providing an outstanding level of service to our valued clients. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Level 2-3 type Onsite/Workshop & Remote IT support Services
- A high level of professionalism and attention to detail
- Be reliable and trustworthy, and take pride in what you do
- Handle incoming IT Help requests/queries that come in via dispatch
- Work closely with our Service Manager to work through projects & tickets.
- Raising, actioning & then finalising support tickets ready for accounting.
- Escalate IT Support requests when out of scope
- General administration duties (within role)
- Handover of potential sale leads & non tech services to other departments
- Monitoring of our NOC room dashboards (Network Operations Centre)
- Monitoring & maintenance of our Data Centre servers & equipment
- Take a leading hand role in regards to our projects & development work
- The ability to work as part of a team in a diverse, fast-paced environment

Technical Skills / Knowledge
- Outstanding troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to find solutions to unknown problems is essential.
- Good coverage of all common Microsoft desktop operating systems such as Windows 7, 10, 11 etc.
- Experience supporting, or knowledge of server operating systems such as Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019.
- Experience supporting Microsoft desktop operating systems in an Active Directory environment.
- Office 365 / Azure administration experience is ideal.
- Printing, scanning & other peripheral troubleshooting.
- Good Understanding of Network Fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, VLANS, Switching, Wi-Fi, Routing, Firewalling and VPN’s etc.)
- Experience working within a virtual environment. (Hyper V specifically)
- A broad range of third-party application support experience.
- Working with ticketing systems & RMM Toolsets would be ideal.
Experience
- 5 years + minimum experience providing IT Support to end users
- Certificate III or IV in Information, Digital Media & Technology is preferred but not required.
Other
- Must hold a current Australian-issued driver’s license
- Covid or Influenza vaccination is not mandatory.
- Must have a current Queensland/national police certificate.
- Blue Card is ideal also but not mandatory.
Position Details
- Business Equipment Award 2020: Salary + with bonuses in place.
- This position will be based in the Cannonvale office primarily.
- Permanent Full Time Salary – Negotiable for the right canditate.
- 5 day average week, flexibility of work hours can be negotiated
